1985 16' Sail Canoe
WOOD STRIP CANOE BY CURRAHEE BOATWORKS
This is a 16 foot, 1985 wood strip sailing canoe built by the Currahee Boatworks in Georgia. Originally built as a canoe, the sailing rig was later added in 1987. The canoe is a copy of the Chestnut Canoe Company 16’ Prospector. The boat is in great condition, and just needs a bit of TLC, but it is currently lake worthy. The sail is in very good condition, and was replaced at some point in its life. There is a wooden wand that attaches to the top of the rudder and reaches forward for a solo sailor to operate.  This sailing canoe is very well made and all original, except the more current and updated sail. The
seats, gunnels and breastplates,
portage yoke and pads, mast and spar, rudder and leeboards are all original.
The last two pictures in this listing are from when the canoe was new.
