4 1880s Horse Thief Postcards to Montgomery County Independence Kansas Sheriff

Description

Until I saw these postcards, I didn't realize that people sent postcards
about missing/stolen horses and mules to area sheriffs. Before photos,
the animal owners described the horses and mules, hoping that
someone would spot them and identify them as stolen... the 0 reward
postcard is amazing - a 0 reward in the 1880s is like 00 today.
Two of the postcards are postcards are handwritten, and two are
professionally printed. I believe the wax paper envelopes are the
original envelopes where the postcards were stored, but I'm not sure.
Condition:
Some folds and soft corners.
No tears.
Stored in a non-smoking environment.
