Cavitt-Shaw Strawberry Shortcake Platter~Double Spout Gravy Boat~Dessert Plates

Description

A beautiful strawberry platter with the name Shortcake stamped in red letters on the back.
This platter is 9 1/4” X 11 1/4”. It is a creamy ivory color, has red strawberries with shadows scattered across the surface. There is a thin red band around the outside edge of the platter. This red band does have some wear from use and perhaps being stacked. The bottom of the platter has a few utensil marks from use. There are no chips or cracks but there is a mold mark on the back center and 3 small mold marks on the back rim.
A set of 4 Cavitt-Shaw W. S. George dessert plates in what’s know as the Strawberry Shortcake pattern.
Each plate measures 6 1/4” in diameter. They are in very good preowned vintage condition. There are some manufacturing defects noted and some flea bites to the edges. Some very slight wear to the red band.
A rare find the double spouted gravy boat is 6” from spout to spout and 6 1/2” from handle to handle. It does have some small chips on the side of one handle and one on the inside of the top edge (see photos).
All pieces were made by W.S. George Pottery Co. of East Palestine, Ohio in the 1930’s to 1950’s. Formerly the Sebring Bro’s. Pottery, George purchased it in 1904 and ran it until it closed due to bankruptcy in 1955. Cavitt and Shaw were family names. See makers mark on bottom.
