The HARBIN MARU" was launched in 1914 for the OSK Line, (Osaka Shosen Kaisha) of Osaka. In the 1930's it was assigned to the Japanese Imperial Army as an Auxiliary Transport. The ship ran supplies for Japanese troops in China and did so for a few years to support the Second Sino-Japan War. In January of 1942 after the start of the Pacific War, a U.S. submarine sunk the Harbin Maru off the coast of Hainan, China.
