The db-3060 is perfect for Health & Safety professionals who need to measure employee noise exposure levels to determine inclusion in a company Hearing Conservation Program and/or required use of hearing protectors. A noise dosimeter (not just a sound level meter!), such as this db-3060, is the best and easiest way to accurately determine employee noise exposure because a dosimeter measures full-shift levels and automatically calculates 8-hour time-weighted averages (TWA8). Just clip the db-3060 to the employee's belt, clip the microphone to their collar near their ear, press RUN, and send them off to work for the day. At the end of their shift, press RUN again to pause/stop the measurement, remove the db-3060, and record the results.
This unit is currently (and by default) set to OSHA specifications including logging at both 80 and 90 dB thresholds simultaneously so that multiple shifts are NOT required to determine Action Level and Permissible Exposure Limit noise exposure levels! It uses a 9V battery (not included) that will provide approximately 40 hours of runtime. To ensure accuracy, pre and post measurement calibrations should be performed using a Metrosonics CL-304 calibrator (not included).
