    Description

Very Unique and Unusual magazine advertisement for NABISCO "RITZ" brand CRACKERS
Rescued from a damaged October 1948 issue of LIFE magazine, it is the only ad that I have ever seen where the company purchased two pages - and left one page almost totally blank!!
Page 80, shown here is totally blank except for these words in the lower right corner -  with an arrow pointing to the right:  "The Outstanding Cracker"
The next page (81) is a full-color ad for the Nabisco Ritz Crackers.
Ad copy says:  Choose any cheese--there's only one Ritz!  No other cracker makes cheese flavors so rich, so racy as Ritz--brings such robust joy to all eating!  So lively-crisp--so zesty...Ritz is in a class by itself--the one cracker above all others to turn meal or snack into a delicious adventure!  Heading says:  "With Cheese, nothing tastes as good as Ritz...but Ritz! A stamp-like graphic on the left side says:
50 Years of Fine Baking, 1898-1948, National Biscuit Company.
Each ad page measures 10" x 13 1/2".  The edges were trimmed slightly to eliminate small imperfections.  Back side of the blank page has a 1/2 page ad for Coty Pastel Tint, and part of an unrelated article. There is a small 1/4" tear along the left side of the blank page.  Back side of the actual cracker ad is a full page ad for The Watchmakers of Switzerland.  Due to the age of the paper, it has become brittle and must be handled carefully.
Currently, this is the only listing for this item on eBay.  Just an interesting method of advertising.  I'd love to know what their final conclusion was as to how effective the ad proved to be...
I'll place the pages inside a plastic sleeve and add a piece of white foam board for stability.  Mailing will be by USPS First Class in a bubble envelope.  I'll mail same day, or next day after PayPal payment is received.
