    Description

    T
his Real Photo Card chronicles "Our Chicken House"  It was in a group of cards I purchased, all from Narka, Kansas, featuring the Novotney and Shulda families who lived in Narka  and are mentioned or shown in many of the cards in this set that I have posted.  The card is addressed to Emma Shulda, in Tenstrike Minnesota so this must be the Shulda's coop.   This card was published between 1910 and 1930, dated by the AZO stamp box.  The image is light but clean and clear and there is just minor wear on the corner and edges.  Most of the cards in this group of cards have been in an album and the reverse is damaged.
    N
arka is a city in Republic County, Kansas with a population of 94 in 2010.  It was founded in 1887 and was named for the daughter of a railroad employee.  The first post office was established in 1887 and Narka was incorporated in 1894.
The colors on the card are a more neutral sepia than the scan, due to the scanner settings and screen projections.
Unless otherwise noted, I use Wikipedia, Playle's and Metropostcard for research and try to be as accurate as possible.  Corrections appreciated.
