This scarce 1920s German Leopold Engelhardt “Sethos" litho hinged 25 cigarette tin, measuring 2 7/8” x 4 5/8” x 1”, is in excellent condition with no rust or dents and some very minor age related paint scratches and chips. The original matte finish remains. The hinge is in excellent working condition.The cigarettes were manufactured by the Leopold Engelhardt Tobacco Company, Bremen, Germany and Cairo, Egypt
This highly attractive bright red tin features a classical Greek man and woman, each of whom is holding a medallion. The medallion the man is holding is the company trademark while the one the woman is holding is an award given to the company by The Khedive of Cairo. Leopold Engelhardt was pivotal in making Egyptian tobacco popular in Europe.
