    Description

Vintage - 1920s Sunshine Biscuit Tin Topper for General Store - Made into Display Case - GOOD
Authentic vintage tin topper from the 1920s, used in general stores to display
Sunshine Biscuits for sale by the piece, from a box
below the glass window in the topper. Either the customer or a store clerk would select the desired number of biscuits from the box below the topper, lifting the lid (hinged at the left side, like a book) to remove the biscuits. When the biscuits were gone, the topper moved to a new box.
Since that time, the topper has been attached to a shallow frame around a wood base lined with black velvet, converting the topper to an independent, 10 1/2" square display case, 3" deep.
